Trafficking
There are so many injustices brought upon others in our world everyday, one of which is Human Trafficking. You may feel there is nothing a single person can do, or possibly that trafficking does not occur in your area. Why do anything if you haven’t been directly affected by trafficking? Did you know that an estimated 14,500 to 17,500 foreigners are trafficked into the United States each year? Or also that 700,00 to 2 million women and children are victims of trafficking each year?
The Business
Surprising as these numbers may be, millions of people around the world turn a blind eye towards them. They try to believe things like this don’t happen. I can assure you that it does happen every day. The business of trafficking is thriving and the structure is the same as with any business. At the top you have the Dealers, who kidnap and “obtain the product”. They give the product a barcode and sell it around the world to local merchants (pimps). The product is finished being prepared and ready for the customers to buy and use. As you can see, the merchandise has no say in the matter. Once they are in the system their chances of living a normal life again are almost zero.
Helping to prevent Trafficking
I want you to think of the question I asked earlier in this post. Why do anything if you have not been directly affected? Now, instead of why, change it to why not? If your daughter, son or wife was taken for the purposes of trafficking, wouldn’t you want others to help you? I have always been the person to stand up and act for the people who can’t act for themselves. They deserve freedom from the streets and shouldn’t have to be defined by their barcode.
I will continue to write on this blog for those individuals who are in need help. Please join me in the fight to free those in bondage and prevent further injustices. We can do this by working with each other to build awareness. Share this blog with your friends and if you have suggestions please leave a comment.
